The Tool Library

The Tool Library is a community-curated directory of real-world tools — drills, saws, router bits, blades, jigs, hardware — matched to the job and the material they're best for, with links to where you can buy them.

It's the physical-world companion to the marketplace: the marketplace has the Mozaik files, the Tool Library has the tools shops reach for to build what those files describe.

Finding a tool

Browse /tools and filter by:

• Job type — door construction, drawer boxes, edge banding, boring & hardware, and so on.
• Material — melamine, plywood, MDF, solid hardwood, acrylic, and more.
• Tool type — drill, saw, router bit, jig, etc.

Each tool has a page with what it's good for, the jobs and materials it suits, and where to buy it.

Suggesting a tool

Anyone with an account can suggest a tool. Add its name, type, a short description of what it's good for, the jobs and materials it suits, and one or more places to buy it. Your submission goes to a moderator for a quick review, and appears in the library once approved.

Where-to-buy links point to established retailers (Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe's, Rockler, Woodcraft, and similar). Affiliate links are welcome — just mark them as affiliate so we can disclose them.

Tools and the items they build

When you upload or edit a marketplace item, you can tag the tools you used to make it. Those tools show under "Tools used to make this" on your item page, and your item shows up under "Made with this tool" on each tagged tool's page — a two-way link between the file and the physical tools behind it.

It's not just the maker. If you've downloaded or bought an item, you can add the real-world tools you used with it, right from the item page. Each person's picks are attributed to them, so the "Tools used" list becomes real community feedback on which tools and brands actually work — the more shops that vouch for a tool, the stronger the signal.
