Moderation and review
What we check before an item goes live, why things get rejected, and how strikes work.
The review queue
New sellers go through review. We aim to look at every submission within 24 hours.
Once you have 3 approved items and no strikes, you become a trusted seller: your uploads and version updates publish immediately, and we spot-check afterward instead of making you wait.
What we check
- The archive contains a README with real installation and use instructions (see uploading) — this is a hard gate and the most common reason for rejection
- The files are what the listing says they are
- Screenshots represent the actual item
- Includes CAM is accurate
- Nothing malicious in the archive
- The item isn't someone else's work relisted
Rejections
Rejections always come with a reason. It isn't a strike and it isn't a black mark — fix the issue and resubmit. Most rejections are a missing or useless README, and take ten minutes to resolve.
Strikes
Strikes are for conduct, not quality:
- Relisting someone else's work as your own
- Deliberately misrepresenting what an item contains
- Uploading malicious files
- Redistributing paid files you bought
Strikes cost you trusted-seller status. Repeated strikes end in a ban and, where a license was broken, enforcement.
An item that simply isn't very good doesn't earn a strike. Ratings and reviews handle that, and buyers are perfectly capable of judging.
Community experts and the "Community-tested" badge
Beyond the review queue, the Exchange team can flag a handful of trusted shops as community experts. An expert who has actually used an item in Mozaik can mark it Community-tested from the item page — a green badge that tells other shops a person they trust has run the file and vouches for it. The badge names the expert who vouched, and either the expert or a moderator can remove it.
This is a trust signal about whether a file works, layered on top of the malware/README gate above — not a replacement for it, and separate from the creator's support stance. A formal Verified by Mozaik tier and an automated preflight check are on the roadmap; the community-expert badge is the first step we can run ourselves today.
Reporting something
Every item, comment, and review has a report action. Reports go to a moderator queue. If you've bought something that isn't what it claimed to be, report it and request a refund — the two are separate, and you're entitled to both.
Version updates
New versions of an existing item are reviewed against the same bar — including the README requirement. A trusted seller's updates go live immediately; a new seller's are queued like any other submission.
