Getting paid
The 15% fee, Stripe Connect onboarding, and when money reaches your bank.
What you keep
You keep 85% of every sale. mozExchange takes a 15% platform fee, and that includes Stripe's payment processing costs — there's no second fee stacked underneath it.
Sell a $24 insert, and $20.40 is yours.
Free items cost you nothing, ever. There is no listing fee, no subscription required to sell, and no charge for hosting your files.
Setting up payouts
The first time you price an item above $0, you'll be taken through Stripe Connect onboarding. Stripe — not us — collects:
- Your business details
- Your bank account
- Tax information (Stripe issues your 1099 in the US)
We never see or store your bank details.
It takes a few minutes, and your upload is saved as a draft while you do it. Once you're through, you're returned to exactly where you left off.
When the money arrives
Stripe pays out on a rolling schedule once your account is verified. You can see your balance, payout schedule, and history in your dashboard under Payouts.
The first payout usually takes a little longer than later ones, because Stripe verifies your account before releasing funds. That's normal and not something we can accelerate.
Refunds and your balance
If a buyer is refunded, the sale is reversed, including your 85%. See refunds.
The best defense against refunds isn't policy — it's a clear README and an honest Includes CAM flag. Most refunds trace back to a buyer who couldn't install the item, or who expected machining data and got a visual-only model.
Taxes
Stripe Tax calculates and collects sales tax where it applies. You're responsible for your own income taxes; Stripe provides the forms.
