The community

mozExchange is built by the shops that use it, so a lot of what ends up shared starts as a conversation. You'll find all the ways to take part under Contribute in the top nav — one page for asking, sharing, answering, showing your work, and hiring. The idea exchange (below) lives under Learn, since it's really how-to knowledge.

Requests — ask for what's missing

If search comes up empty, post it on the request board. A request is a short, specific ask — "Rev-A-Shelf 5372 pullout with CAM," not "more pullouts." Sellers watch the board, and a well-described request has a real chance of becoming an item.

• Upvote requests you'd also buy. Upvotes are how sellers gauge demand, so the ones near the top get built first.
• Anyone with an account can post or upvote. Requests are never paywalled.

Want to build one? On any open request, hit "I'll build this." That claims it — the board now shows your shop is on it, so two people don't build the same thing. Publish your item like any other upload, then come back to the request and "Link the item you built" — search for your live item and pick it. That marks the request Fulfilled and puts a "Built by request" link on it, pointing everyone straight to your item. Changed your mind? Release the claim and it goes back to open for someone else.

A request moves Open → Claimed → Fulfilled as that happens. You can only fulfill a request you claimed, with an item you actually own.

Idea Exchange — ask how (under Learn)

The idea exchange — reached from the Learn tab — is for questions that aren't about buying a file: CAM setup, a tricky joinery detail, why a post won't machine the way you expect. Ask a question, get answers from other shops, and if you're the one who asked, mark the answer that solved it as accepted. The accepted answer pins to the top so the next person with the same problem finds it fast.

Showcase — show what you built

Finished a kitchen or a closet you're proud of? Post it to the showcase with a few photos. What makes a showcase post more than a photo gallery is tagging: tag the marketplace items you actually used, and each tag becomes a shoppable link on your project. It's how a great-looking build turns into a discovery path for the items behind it.

You tag items with the same search you'd use anywhere else on the site — start typing an item's name and pick it from the list. Only live items can be tagged.

Need custom work, not a file?

When the thing you need doesn't exist yet — and isn't likely to become a stock item — you can hire someone to build it. The jobs board lets shops post work and hire Mozaik designers and drafters directly, with payment held in escrow until you accept it. Staying in the loop

You get a notification when someone replies to your comment or idea-exchange post, claims or fulfills a request you posted, or follows your shop — in the bell at the top of the site, and by email if you leave that on. You choose exactly what reaches you, and how, under Settings → Notifications (details).

A note on conduct

Everything here is public and moderated the same way the rest of the marketplace is. Be specific, be generous with what you know, and keep it about the work. Spam, self-promotion dressed up as a question, and abuse get removed — see moderation for how flags and removals work.
